Managing locations

Locations represent the physical places where your parish celebrates Mass, hears confessions, and holds events — for example, a main church, a chapel, or an adoration chapel. Every schedule you create is tied to a location, and each location appears on your public site so parishioners know where to go.

The locations page

Navigate to Admin Dashboard → People & Places → Locations. The page displays all active locations in a card grid. Each card shows the location name, full address, and shortcut buttons for managing confession schedules, Mass schedules, editing, and deleting.

If a priest is currently hearing confessions or celebrating Mass at a location, the card shows that in real time with the priest's name and estimated end time.

Two buttons appear at the top of the page:

  • Add New Location — opens the creation form.
  • Manage Public Display — opens the visibility and ordering panel (only appears once you have at least one location).

Adding a location

  1. Click Add New Location.
  2. Enter the Name of the location (for example, "St. Mary's Church").
  3. Begin typing in the Address field. An autocomplete powered by Google Places suggests matching addresses. Selecting a suggestion fills in the City, State/Province, Postal Code, Country, and geographic coordinates automatically.
  4. Review and adjust the auto-filled fields if needed. All address fields are required.
  5. Optionally select a Timezone from the dropdown. If you leave it blank, the location inherits your parish's default timezone configured in Settings.
  6. Click Save.

The new location appears in the grid and is immediately visible on your public site.

tip

If your parish has locations in different time zones, set each location's timezone individually. Sacramentum uses the location timezone to display schedule times correctly for parishioners.

Editing a location

  1. Click the Edit button (pencil icon) on the location card.
  2. Update any field — name, address, or timezone.
  3. Click Save.

Changes take effect immediately on both the admin console and the public site.

Managing public display

The Manage Public Display panel controls how locations appear on your parish's public site.

Reordering locations

Locations appear on the public site in the order you set here. Drag a location by its grip handle and drop it into the desired position. The new order saves automatically.

Showing or hiding a location

Each location has a visibility toggle (eye icon). Turn it off to hide a location from the public site without deleting it. Hidden locations appear dimmed in the admin panel and are still available for scheduling — they simply do not appear to parishioners.

info

Hiding a location does not cancel any schedules tied to it. Existing Masses and confessions continue as configured; they are just not displayed publicly.

Deleting a location

  1. Click the Delete button (trash icon) on the location card.
  2. A confirmation dialog appears.

Sacramentum checks whether the location has any active references before allowing deletion. If any of the following exist, the deletion is blocked and the dialog lists what must be resolved first:

  • Active recurring schedules (Mass or confession)
  • Mass events
  • Mass intentions linked to the location
  • Priests assigned to the location
  • Priests marked as available for immediate Mass at the location

Once all references are removed, the deletion proceeds. Deleted locations are removed from the admin view and public site but their historical data is preserved for audit purposes.

warning

You cannot undo a location deletion. Before deleting, make sure all schedules, events, and assignments tied to that location have been moved or removed.

Multi-location parishes

Each location maintains its own set of schedules, its own timezone, and its own position in the public display order. When parishioners view your public site, they see schedules organized by location. If you operate from multiple buildings — for example, a main church and a mission chapel — create a separate location for each so that schedules stay organized and accurate.
